What is Kung Fu?

Unlike many martial arts, such as Tae Kwon do, which means “to smash with the hands and feet” Kung fu does not translate into any words that describe fighting. Kung means skill, fu means mastery, or in other words acquired skill through hard work. This applies to any skill possible without limit. At the deeper levels, Kung fu is the art of self transformation, a full spiritual path. As previously mentioned, Kung fu is a sacred science, it is the knowledge of all knowledge because it trains us to follow universal laws as well as to understand the nature of the primal elements, and how to balance them and at higher levels, even control them. I’ll explain this more later.

Secondly, another common misconception is that Kung fu will make one more likely to become violent. This could not be further from the truth! Any system of Kung fu teaches the principle of avoiding violence at almost all costs. On the other hand, I must say that the acquisition of such powers, will not guarantee that the pupil will be endowed with good morals and or character, or be without arrogance and willful behavior. In slightly different words, supernatural powers can be used for benign, or malicious ends. The path will ultimately lead the serious practitioner to a conscious choice of how the knowledge will be used. A hammer can build a hospital, yet in the hands of a murderer,it can be a deadly weapon. All knowledge is neutral. It just all hinges on the consciousness of the individual. With great power comes great responsibility.

Thirdly, another misconception that has kept more than a hand full of would be practitioners away, is the false belief that Kung fu is an eastern religion that requires obedience and worship of pagan deities, or in the worst case, that its just downright satanic! For that, I will say that nothing has been more destructive to the sacred sciences and martial arts in the west, than the rise of extreme religion. I cannot stress enough that I have no problem with religious beliefs, until they are imposed on others, I am simply demonstrating how it has been used for centuries by more than a few to divide, intimidate and control the human psyche through fear. So many have been stripped of their power by blindly following and giving unquestioning obedience to religious authorities which have suppressed all forms of thought and free will for thousands of years in every culture.

Now, I will explain more about the working of these arts. The human body, if trained properly, can become a conductor of electromagnetic fluid produced from balancing both sides of the body (yin and yang) as well as controlling the primal elements within oneself. The magnitude and strength of that fluid determines the power level of that entity. Both the chinese and east indian martial arts merge together into a system of unlimited yogic postures of and beyond all conceivable complexities without restraint to the point that the magnitude and strength of the disciples emanation of electro magnetic fluid is increased to infinite proportions! In addition to this foundation, the dedicated student, over a long period, learns to move in an uncountable number of diverse ways applied to practice as well as any and every form of martial combat; covering, punching, chopping, clawing, jabbing, raking, poking, kicking, elbowing, throwing knees, joint locking, grappling, submission, pain compliance, dim mak (death touch), bone crushing, constriction, death roll, etc. As a result of many years of long, grueling, rigorous hours of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional training a master of these styles, in addition to his or her martial skill, can create acts of mystical proportion that can appear as miracles to many. Yet it is only a matter of fundamental control over the elements.

Extraordinary often becomes common place.
